RULES & GUIDELINES TO UG STUDENTS

General instructions:

 

  • Punctuality of students: – All the students are directed to strictly follow the college timings while attending theory classes and clinical postings.
  • Dress code of the students in the campus: -. All the students must wear the prescribed dress during the College working hours strictly. If any student comes to the College/ Hospital without dress code, such student will not be allowed to attend the classes and clinical postings.
  • Ban on cell phones in the campus: – Carrying cell phones by the students in the campus including hospital premises is banned. If any student is found using or possessing a cell phone, the same cell phone will be confiscated and Disciplinary action will be taken against such students.
  • Students are not allowed to use BIKES in the college campus. If any student found riding the bike, the same bike will be seized by the college/ hostel authorities, and disciplinary action will be taken against such student.

 

Instructions to Hostlers

Outing dates for the students in Girls Hostel :

          Girls staying in Hostel can go out of the campus, with prior permission from the Hostel authorities, on the following dates and at the specified timings only.

  1. 1st and 3rd Sunday  9 A.M to 5 P.M
  2. 1st and 3rd Thursday 5 P.M to 8 P.M

Outing dates for the students in Boys Hostel :

     Boys staying in Hostel can go out of the campus, with prior permission from the Hostel authorities, on the following dates and at the specified timings only.

  1. 2nd and 4th Sunday 9 A.M to 5 P.M
  2. 2nd and 4th Thursday 5 P.M to 8 P.M

Eligibility to appear for University Examinations:-

 

     75% of attendance in a subject is compulsory provided the student has 80% attendance in nonlecture i.e. seminars. Group discussions, tutorials, demonstration, practicals, hospitals postings, bed side clinics, failing which the student will not be permitted to appear for the University exam with his batch of students. Attendance shall be calculated from the total number of hours prescribed by UHS/MCI and not the number of classes conducted.

Rules for Hostlers for going to their Homes:

 

All the Hostlers staying both in Boys & Girls Hostel should follow the prescribed guidelines when leaving to their homes:

 

  1. All the students residing in the Hostels should get the leave letter (request for permission) from their parents addressed to the concerned mentor in the college. In case of emergencies, the parents may fax the leave letter on behalf of their son / daughter to the college. Fax No.08514 -222 480, 222 818.

 

  1. The mentor will then accord permission and forward the copy of the parent’s letter to the Hostel authorities. The students should collect the gate pass from Hostel authorities after submitting the letter or fax forwarded by the Principal.

The student should handover the gate pass to the security at the gate and enter the details of the departure in the register kept with the security at the gate. Student should also enter the date and time of arrival in the same register when they return from home.

 

  1. No day-scholar is allowed to dine in the hostel. If any day-scholar is found taking meals in the hostels disciplinary action will be taken against such student. The hostlers are also warned not to entertain any day- scholar either in their rooms or in dining hall.

Rules and Guidelines for P G Students   

 

  1. The rules and Guidelines can be changed at any time by college administration, Santhiram Medical College for administrative convenience and smooth running of the hospital and college.
  2. The working hours for P G students, will be from 09:00 A M to 05:00 P M with one Hour break (Preferably 01:00 P M to 02:00 P M)
  3. Every day P G students should sign in the Register which is kept in the office.
  4. The student should not leave the hospital or college during working hours without prior permission from the Head of the Department.
  5. Every day the P G student will take rounds at 01:00 P M in the wards and inform the progress of the patients to the concerned unit head.
  6. If the student goes on leave, he/she should arrange his/her duties with his alternative colleagues.
  7. If two P G students are posted in one Department they should do night duties on alternate dates.
  8. If only one student is posted in one Department, he/she should do minimum fifteen call duties per month.
  9. All the P G students should wear apron during working hours.
  10. The students will be provided shared accommodation in the hostel.
  11. The students should pay Mess Charges, Hostel accommodation charges & college fees regularly without fail.
  12. Each P G student will be allowed to attend One State Conference, One National Conference and One C M E programme in one year.
  13. If a P G student presents a paper in the State Level or National Level Conference, the college administration will pay To & Fro train charges of sleeper class.
  14. Each P G student should contribute Rs. 1,000/- (Rupees One Thousand Only) per year for Text Books, Journals or any teaching materials which is useful for them and these materials will be kept in the Department. The college Administration will contribute equal amount.
  15. Whenever a student goes on leave, he should submit the leave letter well in advance to the Medical Director through the H O D.
  16. The HOD will conduct case discussion, journal club, seminars regularly. The teaching programme schedule should be submitted to the Principal every month.
  17. The H O D is entirely responsible to supervise the work of the P G students.
  18. The HOD will conduct evaluation examinations every three months and progress of the student will be informed to the administration and the parents.
  19. The P G students should actively participate in teaching programme of UG’s (Under Graduate) and Nursing Staff.
  20. The P G student should attend the emergency calls immediately, without delay.
  21. The Hospital Caters mainly to poor patients. Expensive medicines and unnecessary investigations should be avoided.
  22. The student should maintain cordial relationship with patient, patient’s relatives and colleagues.
  23. The Duty Rosters of the P G Students should be displayed in the casualty and concerned Departments before 1St of every month, by the HOD’s.
  24. HOD will allot the Dissertation subject and supervise the Dissertation work of the P G Student.
  25. Students should submit their Dissertation work for evaluation to the HOD atleast once in three months.
  26. P G students should not rag junior students and should not misbehave with colleagues or patients.
  27. If students have any problems, they should contact the administration through their HOD.
  28. No day off will be given after the call duties.
  29. Students will be posted for peripheries in 2ND year to various other concerned departments.
  30. Disciplinary actions will be initiated against those students who do not abide by the rules and guidelines of the institution.
