Santhiram General Hospital was established in 2004 as a teaching hospital for Santhiram Medical College. There are 930 teaching beds under various Medical and Surgical departments. The salient advantage of the hospital is its enormous clinical material available for both undergraduates and post graduates for training.

The hospital is being run on free basis to all out patients and inpatients. No charges are levied on any outpatients for consultation. All diagnostics like X-Ray, Ultrasound, blood tests are done free at very nominal rates to all patients. There are no bed charges for any kind of inpatients. All elective surgeries are done free of cost. Normal Deliveries and Caesarians are done freely,and investigations for pregnant women are completely free of cost..

Free transportation is provided to all villages in a radius of 90 kms,where patients from all villages can avail this free facility for visiting the hospital. Ten buses are provided for free transportation to patients. Santhiram General Hospital only hospital which is conducting free medical camps everyday at villages.Free drugs are provided for all the needy patients.

Free cataract surgeries are performed in the Dept of Opthalmology and we are proud to say that we conducted more than 100000 cataract surgeries to the people in and around Nandyal region.

All inpatients are given “free food” three times a day. Due to this, free medication scheme being run from last 14 years, the surrounding rural area population in and neighboring areas of Nandyal prefer Santhiram General Hospital as their choice. Out Patient Department: All the departments like General Medicine, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, OBG, Paediatrics, Ophthalmology, Psychiatry, E.N.T., TBCD, Dermatology, Psychiatry have their OPD facilities with separate male and female examination rooms. Student demonstration rooms are provided adjacent to every OPD for clinical demonstrations.
