The Department of Paediatrics

The paediatric wing of the Santhiram Medical College and General Hospital treats the various health ailments of infants and children up to 12-13 years of age. Since the body of a child is physiologically different from an adult, the paediatricians at our hospital can understand the health issues accurately, and provide effective treatments.

There are many sub-specialties in this department, which focus on the different body parts and the related illnesses.

Neonatology :

This sub-wing deals with the health problems of the newborn, and the required treatments are given in the NICUs (Neonatal Intensive Care Units). Issues like low birth weight, pulmonary problems, sepsis, and other birth defects are treated by it.

Paediatric Pulmonology :

The health ailments related to the respiratory system, like Pneumonia, Tuberculosis, Asthma, etc. are treated by the department.

Paediatric Oncology :

It deals with the diagnosis and treatment of different types of cancers in the children. The rate of cancer in infants is increasing alarmingly, and in fact, it is the main reason for the premature death of children. We use advanced methods to treat these dangerous health issues effectively.

There are other sub-departments in our paediatric wing, like Gastroenterology, Ophthalmology, Psychiatry, Endocrinology, etc., which offer incredible treatments for the diseases and health ailments prevalent in the children.
